This morning I am excited to announce my candidacy for Vice Mayor of Nashville.
Public service has always been important to Jodie and me. Whether it's serving on the Metro Council or on the Board of Nashville CARES, we want to instill that sense of dedication and service in our son, Sam. The decision to run for Vice Mayor is grounded in our commitment to Nashville, and our desire to make sure the city continues to thrive while maintaining its distinctive character and charm.
The Vice Mayor and the Metro Council stand in an unique position to make sure Nashville grows in a positive way. By giving the public an opportunity to be heard through their representatives, proactively engaging the community to build consensus on important issues and by actively assessing the Mayor's agenda, the Vice Mayor and Council can ensure Nashville's strong future for our families.
Election day is more than a year away, and I intend to use this time to begin a conversation with our community about where Nashville should be going, what we want this city to be and what are the most pressing issues of the day. My thoughts and observations will be routinely posted on this website, and I encourage you to become a part of the dialogue. Send me your emails and comments, and we'll begin to map out a plan for Nashville's bright future together.
