3 out of 5 stars Best Read-Aloud Book for Any Age   May 10, 2008
This is the best read-aloud book for any age! A pigeon wants to drive the bus soooo badly that he will do anything to get the keys from you:-) Who can't relate to wanting something badly and not being allowed to have it just yet ? You can role-play while reading and have the best time with your child! And don't be shy, use your voice, face and body freely to bring the pigeon to life and you will be amazed at how much fun you had!

4 out of 5 stars Hysterical interactive book!   May 7, 2008
We checked this one out from the library and my 4 year old LOVED it. You know a book is good when your kid talks about it long after it's been checked back into the library. Imagine my surprise when I looked it up on amazon and found that this simple cute little book had created such a stir.

Most people love this book. I can see why. It's totally lovable and hysterical. I think the target age group is preschoolers - kids that know a little about right and wrong and have a sense of humor. I think some of the negative reviews come from parents who tried to read it to a young toddler. These parents might feel that the book is encouraging the type of whining and wheedling behavior that we all try to actively discourage. But the older kids "get" that the pigeon is being obnoxious and they have a great time telling him NO! It's also really a neat little lesson about how to do the right thing.

The drawings are simple, the story is simple, but it's a fun one! Check it out at the library before you buy it just to make sure you aren't one of the few that will hate this book!

5 out of 5 stars funny   April 30, 2008
this is a great book to read out loud! very funny, it's kind of a subdued humour. is great for kids because they've all tried to get something out of someone at one point or another that they're not allowed allowed to do, so they know the dynamic, but they are able to see how silly it would be to let the pigeon drive the bus. the book is written so that the pigeon is talking directly to the reader, like the reader is the one with the authority to allow the pigeon to ride the bus. comical, i recommend.

5 out of 5 stars We like it   April 5, 2008
This will prove to be an excellent book for getting our students to begin write.

5 out of 5 stars The Best of "The Pigeon" Series!!   March 6, 2008
This is one book I don't mind reading over and over! We've given it so many times as a gift and even recommended to a friend today. My two boys got it as a present about two years ago (now they're 5 and 2 1/2) and they still love it. We've also collected some of the other "Pigeon" books my M. Willems and they're good - but not as good as this one. Second place would go to "Don't Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late". ENJOY - we always do!!
